In other news, I have engaged Little A in the project of planning a Cat Defense System for the garden (because the one of my cats who insists on going outside keeps mistaking it for a litterbox). His ideas involve a homemade motion sensor, which he apparently intends to have his uncle Scott help him build, and a “pepper cannon”.
Mind the dust, glowing green clouds, and that thing with the tentacles that keeps trying to reach out of the sink... This blog is very new and still considerably under construction. I'll be working on the theme, and entering posts from my massive backlog of LJ/FB posts on this topic, over the weeks/months to come.
What does “Muime” mean?
You will notice in these posts that Little A calls me "muime". That's a word from Old Irish, originally meaning foster mother, and later stepmother, godmother, nurse or anyone else in a motherly role who is not your biological mother. It's what my now ex-wife and I decided our kids should call me to avoid the confusion of calling us both mom. It's pronounced "mwee-va", more or less.
