One more reason to love chocolate

Earlier this evening, the little mad scientist and I were embarking on some edible science, namely baking.

We had two bowls out, and were mixing up the dry ingredients in one and the wet ingredients in the other. As I was measuring out the flour, baking powder, etc., and she was blending the bananas with the vanilla and other liquids, she asked “Are chocolate chips considered a wet or dry ingredient?”

“Well, neither, really,” I said. “They get folded into the batter after we’ve mixed the dry ingredients into the wet, so really they’re kind of a separate category on their own.”

“I get it,” she said – and then, with a wide grin, shouted out “They’re non-binary!!!”
